A fire has broken out at a 2MW containerized battery energy storage station in Ostrzeszów, Poland, according to local reports.
The system is believed to contain more than 107,000 battery cells, with a total weight of around 18 tons.
The fire reportedly spread rapidly inside the container shortly after ignition.
Fire fighting teams were dispatched to the scene, with 24 units involved in the response.
Fire fighting robots and thermal imaging drones were also deployed to assist operations.
Around 65 people were evacuated from nearby areas as a precaution.
Firefighters carried out cooling and water suppression measures, but the fire remained difficult to control due to ongoing thermal runaway inside the battery system.
