A serious fire broke out at the Source One plastics recycling plant in Eicklingen, Germany, on January 27, 2026.
The facility is located about 45 km northeast of Hanover.
The fire started inside a recycling hall and then spread to the roof.
About 150 firefighters arrived at the site.
They worked for nearly ten hours to control the fire.
No injuries were reported.
Fire crews faced difficult conditions.
Burning plastic materials increased smoke and heat.
Solar panels on the roof and compressed air tanks inside the building made fire fighting harder.
Snow and freezing water also slowed operations.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The building structure remains stable, but the roof suffered heavy damage.
The plant began operations in 2024 and can process about 70,000 tons of plastic waste each year.
